Mathew Stadlen

Radio and television presenter & producer

Matthew is a radio and television presenter, producer, writer, and author. He is also a commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live, Channel 5, Sky News, and more. I loved the way he interviewed at The How To Academy, which I listened to during lockdown, and I saw him interview Alexandra Shulman a few months ago https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthew-stadlen-b4661563/?originalSubdomain=uk

I am an English radio and television presenter, producer, writer and author. I am a commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live, Channel 5 and Sky News. I am an interviewer for Green Infrastructure Week and Net Zero Week. I have hosted live events for the How To Academy and for four years hosted a twice-weekly four hour show on LBC, reaching an audience of approaching 200,000 listeners. Before that, I was a presenter, producer and director at the BBC where I was the face of the ‘Five Minutes With’ interview series as well as 29 half hour ‘On The Road With’ documentaries. My aggregate audience for the two series was 70 million (excluding the many millions on BBC World). I was also a programme editor of BBC One’s This Week after starting out on Newsnight on BBC Two. I produced three BBC shows live from New York in 2008 covering the Obama election victory and the General Election Event for BBC One in 2010.

I made national and international headlines with my articles for The Telegraph and wrote The Matthew Stadlen Interview in the paper as well as comment pieces. I have written for The Spectator, The Sunday Times and Radio Times, am a regular guest on Jeremy Vine on 5, have appeared frequently on Sky News, presented a show on Sky Arts, and am the co-author of ‘The Politics Companion’, published by Think. I have hosted over 200 live events and interviewed the likes of Sir Michael Caine, Richard Dawkins, Jo Brand and John Cleese in front of large theatre audiences. Cambridge educated with a first class degree, I was brought up in London, where I still live, but I get out to the country whenever I can to pursue my twin passions of photography and birdwatching. My book, How To See Birds, has sold out and has been reprinted. I have worked abroad, am interested in global affairs and have been to 84 countries. I’m also passionate about sport and its impact on society.
