Chocolate Orange Date Balls

Here is the recipe for one of my absolute favourite sweet treats..It’s just a few ingredients which are all easily available, no flour, no bake, no freezer and the result is an exquisite chocolate orange soft truffle texture in a dark chocolate shell.

They are also very low calorie for the richness and decadence they deliver. I just can’t tell you how good these are, so you will have to try for yourself…

Chocolate Orange Date Balls
Yields1 Serving
 13 dates
 2 tbsp cocoa powder
 40 g rolled oats
 2 tbsp chia seeds
 20 g desiccated coconut
 1 medium orange
100 g 90% cocoa chocolate (preferably Lindt as it melts well)
1

De-stone the dates. Put the dates, cocoa powder, oats, chia seeds and desiccated coconut into a blender. Add the juice of the orange. Blend until well mixed into a thick paste.

2

Divide into 30 balls.

3

Melt the chocolate. Dip the balls into the chocolate using a small spoon and leave to dry on a flat board on greaseproof paper.

4

Sprinkle with either grated orange rind and/or desiccated coconut.

5

Inhale and devour. Store in the fridge if they last that long…

P.S. If you want to up the protein content you could add 30g chocolate whey protein, which would add about 3 cals and 1g protein to each ball.
